About the Author

Living in a small town in Ontario, Canada, really allows your imagination to wander. What are things like in different parts of the world? Why can’t I do that thing nobody says to do? This sense of curiosity is what leads me through life, and probably best describes me. I love to read, and do so as much as possible. I obsessively exercise, because you always have to be ready for anything in the case that the zombie apocalypse starts. I also really want to write a novel. Well, enough about me, and lets get back to reading!

Sorry, final thought for you,  I was explaining to someone why I loved fantasy so much, and I think this is a cool thought to end on. For most other genres, if you want to find a new book, the first step is finding a bookstore. In this bookstore the recommended books will probably be as far as you need to go. Don’t get me wrong, fantasy books can be found the same way. But no other genre, in my mind, makes you feel so connected to it when you enter a store, breathe the musky smell of older books, and tucked in a small corner that you would never have noticed had you not almost knocked it over, is a book. This book, the first of a series maybe, is life changing. You will connect with these characters through their trials and tribulations, and then pass this book on. Eventually, this book may make it back to that same corner, where someone (as if by magic) will find it the same way.

Those feelings of connections I get from finding and reading these books may be truly why I love this genre. So get on out there, find new books, and let me know what you find!

Happy Hunting!

Try the Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan. It’s similar to the Sword of Truth but on a much larger scale and changes viewpoints with the author taking us on a journey through the lives of five main characters. He also creates a huge world.

Others you might appreciate, if you like your characters well developed, are Robin Hobbs–she’s my personal favourite. And you might want to try George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones books, if you haven’t already.

Good luck with your fantasy writing. You are young and have a whole writing life ahead of you.
